Basic knowledge about Limestone, Sandstone and Marbles

These stones are mainly consists of calcite. It does not show such graining or crystalline structure. It has a smooth granular surface. Some dense limestone can be polished. Common colors are black, grey, white, yellow or brown. It is more likely to stain than marble. Limestone is known to contain lime form sea water. Limestone is basically sedimentary rock composed of the mineral calcite (CaCO3). This stone is especially popular in architecture, and many landmarks around the world. It is widely used as tiles, slabs in flooring, wall cladding, vanity tops and to pave stone the floors of large commercial complexes, hospitals, airports, shopping malls, railway stations, parks etc. Properties such as high resistance in freezing and thawing conditions make limestone an ideal for architectural purposes.

Sandstone is a sedimentary rock composed of small grains cemented by siliceous, telepathic, or calcareous cementing material. These stones are extremely hard and tough material and consist of consolidated masses of sand deposited by moving water or by wind. They are available in impressive colors and patterns, which largely depends upon the cementing material. Some of the sandstones has a homogeneous and soft structure that they are capable of receiving most elaborate carving and filigree work. Sandstone is a very durable formation of quartz grains. Categorized by the most popular sandstone bonding agents such as silica, calcium, clay, and iron oxide. Sedimentary stone came from organic elements such as glaciers, rivers, wind, oceans, and plants. We offer a splendid variety of sandstone including Kandla Grey, Desert Yellow Brown, Autumn Brown, Buff Brown, Raj Green, Mandana Red, Red Sandstone, Raveena, Lalitpur Yellow, etc.

Marble is a type of metamorphic rock and relatively soft natural stone, making it easy to carve .Marble starts off as either a Limestone or Dolostone, with a lot of the mineral Calcite in it. When this is exposed to the right amount of heat and pressure, the material changes into marble. Marble stone has a typical interlocking of carbonate crystals which offer it a brilliant sheen. Pure white Indian marble stone is formed due to metamorphosis of limestone or dolomite protolith. The colors, the swirls and the veins of the Marble stone could be attributed to the mineral impurities present within.
